The Artificial Intelligence Area is an interdisciplinary research group focused on the study and application of advanced techniques to support decision-making in the operation and planning of industrial systems, equipment and processes. Our work balances basic research on AI models with primarily applied research oriented to solving complex problems in real-world environments.
We develop our research across a wide range of industrial sectors, both through direct collaboration with companies and through projects funded in competitive calls at Spanish and European level. To ensure effective technology transfer, we maintain a portfolio of in-house tools ready to be deployed in solving industrial challenges, contributing directly to the competitiveness and efficiency of our clients and collaborators.
Beyond technical optimization, our ultimate vocation is the betterment of society through the responsible and ethical use of technology. Our fields of activity and the techniques we apply are defined and modified with agility, adapting rigorously to the state of the art and to the evolving interests of an increasingly intelligent and sustainable global industry.

He is the principal investigator of the Smart Industry Chair, where he leads applied research on the use of digital technologies—generative AI, computer vision, LLM-based agents, synthetic data generation, and training environments for artificial agents—to improve industrial processes across various sectors.
He also directs executive programs on generative artificial intelligence for professionals at Comillas Onexed.
His work was recognized with an Honorable Mention by the Industry 4.0 Observatory in 2021.
