Forecasting prices and requirements for balancing services is key to improving generation scheduling and bidding strategies. The project pursues two complementary lines of work: forecasting upward and downward secondary reserve capacity prices in Portugal, and analysing redispatch due to technical constraints (RSI) and its interaction with the day-ahead market.

Using historical data and forecasts of power system conditions, the project will develop models to estimate reserve capacity prices and anticipate RSI redispatch volumes, while also exploring their allocation across generating units. This work will improve understanding of the factors driving these outcomes and reduce uncertainty in decision-making.

Layman's summary: The project develops models to forecast secondary reserve capacity prices in Portugal and power system balancing needs, helping improve power plant scheduling and bidding strategies.

Techniques employed: Advanced Time series models. Functional Data. Data Analysis
