Simulation of the use of VSC-HVDC technology and case studies

This document present a study on the applications of HVDC-VSC point-to-point links in electrical grids. The study has been carried out as part of the INNPACTO project ESP-LIDER, funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness of the Spanish Government. The targets of the work are the following: - Modelling and simulation of HVDC-VSC point-to-point links embedded in electrical grids, in steady-state and dynamic regimes. - Study of the simulation tools more extended. - Technical study on the transformation of an existing HVAC line in an HVDC line. - HVDC-VSC applications for the operation of the power system. - To establish concrete scenarios for the development of HVDC-VSC technology. - Protection coordination in systems which contain HVDC-VSC links. - Simulation of concrete scenarios of the applications of HVDC-VSC links in the Spanish power system.
