In the Spanish electricity market, voltage constraints are regularly solved by connecting a set of offline generators located close to the areas where contingency occurs. Thus, market agents need to predict when their generating units are connected to alleviate the network constraints.
The main objective of this project is to perform a statistic study of many simulations where different demand, scheduled power plants and topological scenarios are considered. The obtained knowledge can be used to improve the forecasting tools developed by IIT for the Spanish utility Endesa in previous years.
In particular, it will be studied the national demand by areas, the impact of the maintenance scheduling of the transmission lines and generating units, as well as the connection rules of the power plants used by the System Operator to alleviate the network constraints.
