March 2004 - March 2005

Funding entity Dimetronic, S.A.

In this project new procedures of railways signalling design are investigated and developed, based on simulation techniques, and are specially oriented to metropolitan lines. The problem is defined by the track characteristics (slopes and curves), speed limits, traction, breaking and resistance trains parameters, and manoeuvres in terminal stations. With this information, the train movement is simulated. Then, the minimum time interval between trains and time margins are calculated according to the selected type of signalling, such as fixed block, distance to goal and moving block.
