The aim of Phase I of this project, where the IIT is involved, is to carry out a review of the performance of the Wholesale Electricity Market in Guatemala and to propose changes to the current regulatory framework to improve it. Some of the issues to be analyzed are: contracts for energy supply in a long-term horizon, assignment and payment of generation firm capacity, energy retail and competition, and the Central America regional electricity market.
