FLOP Model for computing the reliability of the Panama electric system

A. Ramos T. Gómez

June 2004 - October 2004

Funding entity Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica SA

The FLOP model computes the reliability indices of an electric energy system. Among them there are: 1) the expected non served energy (EENS) and 2) the loss of load probability (LOLP) for the set of prespecified periods in which the year is divided. Furthermore, it allows the computation of the effective load carrying capability (ELCC) of each unit. The model has been adapted to the Panama system to support the Dispatch National Centre (CND) in determining the requirements of long term reserve bids.
To reach this goal, the model includes an adequate representation of the system of the electric demand, and of the generatorsŽ output.
