This intensive course at MIT will present and intensive course about decision support models designed to help decision makers of the electric power industry in a market environment. The course will be a second part of the course given last IAP 2010, “Electric power system modeling for a low carbon economy”, although it will not be a hard requirement to have taken it. It will be focused on the models required for taking decision in an electricity market environment: strategic behavior of market participants, market equilibrium, market dynamics and investment cycles, new challenges of the power industry, (renewable sources, demand response, etc.), the interaction with other energy sectors such as the gas natural industry, etc.
