April 2006 - September 2006

Funding entity CRISA

IIT-Comillas will design n three control algorithms for a Miniature Pulse Tube Cooler for space applications:
1) Temperature Control in the cold tip.
2) Voltage control for the compressor linear motor.
3) Current control for the compressor linear motor.
The temperature control system must achieve temperatures between 50K and 90K with a precision of 40mK. The voltage control system must be able to follow sinusoidal references of fundamental frequency between 30 and 60 Hz plus some harmonics (up to 7th harmonic). The current control system must guarantee zero current during launching to space.
