A.P. Cucala A. Fernández-Cardador

October 2004 - December 2004

Funding entity Metro de Madrid, S.A.

The project consists of technical assessment to specify the requirements of a new traffic control centre in Metro de Madrid. Firstly, the current functionality and operation will be evaluated: the command train control system CTC, the traffic regulation system SIRAT, and trains and lines management GDL. The main objective is to reduce the number of manual tasks, especially during the initial phase of the services, the management of incidents and transients in the number of trains.
In a second phase, alternative approaches will be analysed to the integrated design of the following modules: automatic routing, train speed control, real-time replanification, decision-support systems, train management and integrated interfaces.
Also, the impact of the new CBTC moving block signalling system in Metro de Madrid will be analysed.
