The program Selector System was developed by the Instituto de Investigación Tecnológica (IIT) for the company ASG Visualización Digital S.L. between the end of 1995 and 1997. The system was designed to be used by optician to help their clients in the process of selecting glasses frames.
Selector System is based on a personal computer with a video digitiser-card and a TV camera. The computer has a database with all the frames on sale at the optician´s. Using a software selection tool the number of available models is being reduced according to the preferences of the client. Finally a virtual test is performed, showing each model over the image of the client taken by the camera. Several images of the client can be shown simultaneously on the screen, showing a different model of glasses on each.
To be able to commercialise the product internationally, it is necessary to make some modifications and improvements to the program.
