Biography:
Rafael Cossent is a Researcher at the Institute for Research in Technology (IIT) of ICAI School of Engineering at Comillas Pontifical University, where he also acts as coordinator of the Research Unit on Smart and Sustainable Grids. Additionally, he currently coordinates the BP Chair in Energy and Sustainability. Besides his research activities, he teaches on the regulation of network activities in the power sector. Rafael holds an Industrial Engineering degree from Comillas Pontifical University-ICAI and a PhD. degree in Electrical Engineering from the same university, with a dissertation about the economic regulation of electricity distribution, defended in 2013. Throughout his academic career, he has participated in over 30 research and consultancy projects dealing with power sector regulation, distribution network regulation, integration of renewable and distributed generation, demand response, electric vehicles and smart distribution grids. He has published over 35 papers in national and international journals and conference proceedings on these topics. Rafael Cossent has been a visiting researcher at INESC (Porto-Portugal) and at Heriot-Watt University (Edimburgh-Scotland), and he currently cooperates in the on-line education program of the Florence School of Regulation.
