Biography:
Rafael Cossent is a Researcher at the Institute for Research in Technology (IIT) of ICAI School of Engineering at Comillas Pontifical University, where he acted as coordinator of the Research Unit on Smart and Sustainable Grids between 2016 and 2021. Additionally, he currently is the Codirector of the Chair for Hydrogen Studies and he has previously acted as coordinator of the BP Chair in Energy and Sustainability. Besides his research activities, he teaches on the regulation of network activities in the power sector. Rafael holds an Industrial Engineering degree from Comillas Pontifical University-ICAI and a PhD. degree in Electrical Engineering from the same university. Throughout his academic career, he has participated in over 50 research and consultancy projects dealing with power sector economics and regulation, integration of renewable and distributed generation, electric mobility, smart grids, and decarbonization and energy transition. He has published over 50 papers in national and international journals and conference proceedings on these topics. Rafael Cossent has been a visiting researcher at INESC (Porto-Portugal) and at Heriot-Watt University (Edimburgh-Scotland), and he has contributed to the on-line education program of the Florence School of Regulation.
