Biography:
Régulo Enrique Ávila Martínez is from Venezuela. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Oriente (UDO), Venezuela (2012). He obtained a Master’s degree in Renewable Energies in Electrical Systems at Carlos III University of Madrid, Spain (2017). He developed his Master’s thesis in collaboration with the Electrical Systems Unit of IMDEA Energy Institute. The topic of the thesis was the design of the control system for electronic power converters equipped with multi-resonant filters. He has experience in research in stability analysis and control system design for electronic converters connected to electrical Grids (small-signal stability and time simulation). Previously, he worked in Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) and developed projects in the area of public lighting maintenance and construction of power distribution networks (low and medium voltage). He also worked in the area of protection, automation and substation grounding design of CORPOELEC-Venezuela company, developing projects of coordination studies of electrical equipment for overcurrent protection. He joined at Institute for Research in Technology (IIT) as a Research Assistant in September 2019. Currently, he is a PhD student of Comillas Pontifical University and the topic of his thesis is the stability analysis of large power systems with 100% of non-synchronous generation.
