Biography:
José Villar received the degree in Electronic Engineering (1991) and his Ph.D (1997, with the thesis \"Fuzzy Sets Theory Application to Industrial Processes Diagnosis\") from the School of Industrial Engineering ICAI at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas, Madrid, Spain. From 1997 he is Researcher at the Instituto de Investigación Tecnológica (Institute for Research in Technology) of ICAI and Deputy Director from 2004, and teaches electronics in the ICAI Electronic Department. He has participated in more than 40 research projects with industry and administrations, applying advanced techniques such as knowledge based systems, soft computing, intelligent information systems and data mining to very different areas such as on-line monitoring and diagnosis of industrial processes, or more recently operation and planning in competitive electricity markets.
