Biography:

Alexandra Cifuentes holds a PhD in Automation and Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, under a double degree agreement between the National University of Colombia and the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon in France (INSA). She was a fellow of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the Eiffel Doctoral Excellence Program. She has participated as a visiting researcher at the University of Alberta in Canada and at the Institute of Technological Research attached to the Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Spain. She has also been a postdoctoral researcher at the Instituto Santander Big Data (IBiDat) at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, where she has participated in the formulation and development of research projects and applied research contracts in various areas of data science. She is currently an associate assistant professor in the Department of Quantitative Methods at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas. Her line of research focuses on pattern recognition using deep learning techniques.
