Andrea Rodríguez Calvo obtained the degree of Industrial Engineering (Electronics) in 2010 and Master on Electric Power Systems in 2013 from Comillas Pontifical University. She is working as Assistant Researcher at IIT at the Smart and Green Networks Research Group since 2011. She is involved in national and European research projects aimed at the technical and economic analysis of smart grid solutions for the integration of renewable energy and the improvement of quality of supply in distribution networks, including among others monitoring and grid automation, voltage control strategies and the use of flexibility resources such as energy storage and demand response. She is also working on her PhD thesis on the assessment of smart distribution grids, focusing on the potential for scaling-up and replication and the conditions to transpose the results of demonstration projects to the large-scale realization of the smart grid. She has been visiting researcher at the European Commission´s Joint Research Centre (Petten, The Netherlands) and soon at INESC-TEC (Porto, Portugal). Her areas of interest include electric power distribution, smart grids, integration of distributed generation and regulatory and economic aspects of electric power systems.
