Biography:
PhD in Agricultural Engineering. She has developed her research profile both in research centres, such as CARTIF and ITACyL, and in the private sector, where she was Head of the R&D&I Department at CENIT SOLAR, Proyectos e Instalaciones Energéticas, while also taking part in the company’s broader technical and business activities.
Since 2003, she has been a lecturer at the INEA School of Agricultural Engineering, where she also served as Head of R&D until September 2025.
Throughout her teaching career, she has taught, among others, courses in Project Engineering, Arboriculture, Crop Science, Agricultural Construction, Soil Science, Agricultural Valuation, Waste Management, and Renewable Energy. Alongside her academic and professional activity, she has also worked as an evaluator of R&D projects for a certification body.
Since 2000, she has carried out research in three main areas. In crop production, her work has focused on conservation tillage, weed management, soil, erosion, and climate change.
In the energy sector, her research has addressed waste valorisation for energy production, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. She has also developed a research line in urban greening, particularly in green roofs applied to buildings and landscaping.
Her experience goes beyond research and development and also includes design, project development, installation, and construction of technical solutions.
She has been actively involved in knowledge transfer through conference presentations, the organisation of seminars and training activities, as well as the publication of articles and case studies in national and international journals.
She also has extensive experience in online education. Since the 2014–2015 academic year, she has taught courses in this format within the Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural and Agro-Environmental Engineering and several Master’s programmes at the INEA School of Agricultural Engineering.
Areas of interest:
• Crop production and sustainable agricultural systems: crop production and rotations, conservation agriculture, organic farming, cover crop and weed management, and environmentally compatible production systems.
• Soil and agricultural sustainability: soil conservation and erosion, soil–crop interactions, soil fertility, and the assessment of the effects of different agricultural practices and amendments on soil properties and crop yields.
• Renewable energy applications in rural and agricultural settings: biomass and energy crops, solar photovoltaic and solar thermal energy, geothermal energy, biogas, cogeneration, and trigeneration.
• Energy efficiency and sustainable construction: design and calculation of energy systems, energy audits, improvement of building energy efficiency, and integration of renewable energy technologies.
• Bioeconomy and waste valorisation: use and valorisation of agricultural, agri-food, and forestry residues for the production of thermal energy, electricity, and biogas.
• Urban greening and green infrastructure: green roofs and façades, xeriscaping, low-maintenance landscaping, biodiversity, and ecological connectivity.
• Sustainable water management: rainwater harvesting, use, and reuse in buildings, landscaping, and green spaces.
• Climate change, biodiversity, and environmental sustainability: application of renewable energy and energy-efficiency solutions to reduce environmental impacts, and development of measures to enhance biodiversity and ecological connectivity.
