Advanced Electricity Sector Planning

Within the Energy Systems Modelling area at IIT, we develop and utilize modelling tools for power sector planning, addressing the challenges posed by the current decarbonization context.

In this role, the successful candidate will participate in the development, configuration, and operation of an advanced decision-support system for the power sector, currently in use by one of the country’s leading electric utility companies.

The system offers various modeling configurations; the work will therefore involve analyzing and utilizing its diverse functionalities, as well as adapting the tool to address the integration and optimization of different energy vectors such as hydrogen.

Additionally, the role will involve developing and refining models for optimization, forecasting, and the analysis of interdependencies between various energy vectors, all aimed at supporting strategic decision-making.

Requirements

•    PhD in Engineering, preferably in the field of Electrical Engineering.
•    Advanced level of English and Spanish.

Will be valued:
•    Previous experience in the use and configuration of computer-based deci-sion-making support tools in the electricity sector.
•    Knowledge of modelling and optimization of electrical systems and energy vectors.
•    Previous experience in modelling hydrogen integration into the electricity sector.
•    Proficiency in and extensive experience of algebraic programming lan-guages and optimization tools.
•    Experience of collaborating with companies in the electricity sector.

  • Full-time, one-year contract renewable on performance. The gross salary for the first year is €38.678,45 (2026).
