Analysis and modelling of energy systems: electricity, natural gas and hydrogen
A position is offered for a Pre-doctoral Researcher to analyze and model energy sys-tems: electricity, natural gas and hydrogen at the Institute for Research in Technolo-gy, in person at Rey Francisco 4.
At the Institute for Research in Technology, we work on the development and appli-cation of state-of-the-art analytical modelling tools. These are used by both energy companies and government agencies to help them achieve their objectives in the current context of decarbonisation of the energy sectors.
In particular, this position involves working with large energy companies on the analysis and modelling of various energy systems, including electricity, natural gas and hydrogen.
The work will introduce the candidate to a research topic that is in high demand in both academia and industry. You will join a large team of researchers with whom you will be in constant contact. You will develop tools for modelling and optimising different energy systems, as well as predicting prices and other energy assets, looking at the interdependencies between different energy systems.
Requirements
The ambition to become a modelling expert with the additional aim of developing analytical skills in the energy sector.
- Master's degree in engineering, computer science, physics or mathematics.
- Fluency in Spanish and a high level of written and spoken English.
- Knowledge of the energy sector will be positively valued, as well as programming skills in the languages most in demand in the industry: Matlab, R, Python, Visual Basic and GAMS.

• Full-time, one-year contract renewable for up to six years depending on performance. The gross salary for the first year is €32.448,20 (2026).
