There is an opportunity to join an international consortium composed of universities, R&D centers, and leading companies, with access to European funding and real implementation contexts in Switzerland, Cyprus, Portugal, and Italy.
The SOCIAREM project will start in October and aims to overcome the challenges that hinder the widespread deployment of distributed solar systems, especially in Mediterranean regions where energy poverty, inefficient housing, and regulatory barriers limit the potential for transformation. Through a range of innovative solutions adapted to diverse social contexts, SOCIAREM is designed to accelerate the adoption of photovoltaic (PV) energy within Renewable Energy Communities (RECs), overcoming technical, social, and economic barriers that stand in the way of a fair and effective transition to a low-carbon economy.
The project is coordinated by the university, where optimization models for operation and planning will be developed, as well as the participation in the creation of a video game aimed at promoting citizen engagement and education.
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics.
They should have iprogramming skills, an advanced level of English, and fluency in Spanish.
Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities are also essential.
A full-time, one-year contract dedicated to the development of this research line. Additionally, the position includes opportunities for training activities. This format allows for a close professional relationship with the institutions involved in the project. The Research Assistant will also have the option to begin a PhD after two years. The predoctoral research contract has an initial duration of one year, renewable for up to six years depending on performance. The gross salary for the first year is €31,472.55 (2025). Furthermore, IIT will cover 90% of the cost of training activities, and the researcher will have full access to all university services and benefits (sports, cultural activities, library, etc.).
