Development of injury metrics to characterize submarining injuries in Automated Vehicles

The selected candidate will join the Bioengineering division of IIT at Universidad Pontificia Comillas. The focus of the research will be to develop predicting metrics for the likelihood of sustaining injuries to the abdominal organs, the pelvis or the lumbar spine in restrained occupants of future automated cars. The successful candidate will participate in the definition and execution of biomechanical tests and will join a group of experienced researchers in passive safety and biomechanics.

It offers
Annual full-time contract for three years, including health-insurance. The candidate will be able to develop his/her doctoral studies within the framework of this project in a truly multidisciplinary environment. The supervision of the PhD work will be done by two members of IIT, one doctor in Engineering and one doctor in Biomedicine. The gross salary of the first year is € 25,020.62. In addition, the IIT covers 90% of the cost of the doctoral training activities and the candidate will have access to all the services offered by the University (Sports, Cultural Activities, Library, etc.). The successful applicant will be able to join one of the largest experimental facilities on injury biomechanics in Europe.
