Maintenance and upgrading of an advanced tool for strategic analysis of the power sector


The selected person will join an IIT team to participate in a project that combines the disciplines of modeling, computer development and research in collaboration with a leading power company. The project aims to maintain and improve tools for the optimization of planning models that allow the strategic analysis of the evolution of the Iberian electricity market in the long term. The programming language used for the transfer of information between the interface in Excel and the different models is VB.Net while GAMS is the programming language used for optimization. It is a modular, flexible system, with configurable data exchange and with high analysis capabilities.


We offer:
Annual full-time contract that can be combined with training activities. The project allows the research assistant to establish a very close professional relationship with the client. It offers the possibility of accessing a pre-doctoral contract to integrate into a doctoral program after the first two years if the performance is adequate. In this case the research assistant is hired each year up to a maximum of six years. The gross salary for the first year is €24410 according to 2021 rates. In addition, the IIT covers 90% of the fees of the training activities and you will have access to all services offered by the University (Sports, Cultural Activities, Library, etc.).

Requirements:
The person interested in this offer must have a master's degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science or telecommunications. Master’s degrees in industrial engineering, electrical or electronics engineering, physics or mathematics are also acceptable, provided that advanced knowledge of object-oriented programming and of VB.Net is available. Knowledge about optimization, the academic record corresponding to the degree provided, specific knowledge about the electricity sector and other programming languages will also be valued. Fluency in Spanish language, as well as a high level of spoken and written English. It also requires concern for research and study, and teamworking capabilities.
