Strategic analysis of investment in new electricity generation in Europe

The selected person will join a IIT work team to participate in a research project in collaboration with a leading electricity company. The purpose of the project is to provide optimization tools for the strategic analysis of the evolution of the Iberian electricity market in the long-term but considering the impact of the European electricity market. Some specific objectives that are pursued in the project are, the analysis against different demand scenarios, penetration of renewable generation, hydroelectricity, synergy with other energy vectors such as hydrogen, the analysis of the sustainability of the electricity generation activity, or the study of the active participation of the demand and the electric vehicle.

Offered
Annual full-time contract that can be combined with training activities. The project allows the assistant researcher to establish a very close professional relationship with the client. The possibility of accessing a pre-doctoral contract is offered to join a doctoral program after the first two years if the performance is adequate. In this case, the assistant researcher is hired every year for a total maximum period of six years. The gross salary for the first year is € 24410 according to 2021 rates. Additionally, the IIT covers 90% of the training activities fees and will have access to all the services offered by the University (Sports, Cultural Activities, Library, etc.).

Requirements
The candidate must have a master's degree in computer science, engineering, physics, or mathematics, with knowledge of programming being especially relevant and, in particular, advanced knowledge of programming is required in VB.Net. Knowledge of optimization will also be valued. The academic record of the master’s degree provided, and the specific knowledge indicated will be assessed. Complete knowledge of the Spanish language and a high level of spoken and written English is also required. It also desirable a concern for research and study, and ability for teamwork.
