Biophysics of the Immune Response

We offer a 4-year PhD position at the Institute of Technological Research (IIT) at Universidad Pontificia Comillas de Madrid. The PhD will focus on quantifying immune response operating at different scales, always focusing on the explanation of experimental data, discrimination between alternative theories and the generation of new hypotheses. The plan involves the use of mathematical and computational models to describe the immune response at different molecular, cell and population levels. The student will have the opportunity to work in a fascinating interdisciplinary problem were Physics, Mathematics and Biology meet and help to integrate concepts such as mechanosensing, biosignal integration or receptor allostery.

Requirements: Valuable skills include a strong background on Mathematics, Physics or Engineering but other skills (as machine learning and bayesian statistics would be valuable). Additionally, Biologists with a strong interest on Immunology and with experience on programming languages such as python, R or matlab would be also considered. Candidates need to have master’s degree and have finished the master upon FPI acceptance (around July, 2021)

Interested parties have to:
