Hydraulic design of an integral turbine pump (ITP)

The researcher will be involved in the hydraulic design of a new pumping system called Integral Pump-Turbine (ITP), consisting of a compact pump and turbine assembly, which takes the energy from a water stream to pump a part of it, and thus provide irrigation or drinking water. In the development of the work, the researcher will work closely with companies in the sector of hydraulic machines who will develop the mechanical design of the model.

As a result of the work, the researcher will acquire knowledge related to fluid mechanics and turbomachines and the application to CFD simulations.

Requirements: Candidates should have a degree in engineering and a good command of the English and Spanish language. Having a good academic record, as well as the candidate’s knowledge about CFD modelling and simulations will also be considered in the assessment of candidate merits.

Full-time contract with combined dedication between research projects and training activities is offered. This modality allows the Research Assistant to establish a very close professional relationship with the companies with which he/she collaborates, thus nourishing his/her research with the experience accumulated during the projects. Initially this modality does not necessarily require to enroll in any PhD program. The estimated duration of the project is 18 months. The gross salary for the first year is € 24.216,62. In addition, the IIT covers 90% of the cost of training activities and the Research Assistant can enjoy all the advantages offered to Comillas students (Sports, Cultural Activities, Library, etc.).

Documents: Academic certificate for the relevant university degree, Transcript of grades for it, Curriculum Vitae, Motivation letter, Two reference letters, certificates of command of the English and Spanish languages (optional).
