The main objective of this study is to provide a comprehensive overview of past and envisaged medium-term and long-term investments made in the Trans-European Energy networks (TEN-E) in the enlarged European Union with particular emphasis on investments on renewable energy sources and their integration into the Trans-European energy networks. The analysis covers the 25 EU member states, plus Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey as Candidate Countries and Third Neighboring Countries that could play an increasing role in the mid-long term to enhance security of supply and reliability of the EU energy grids. The study covers both electricity and gas analysis. This study is addressed for the DG TREN of the European Commission by a Consortium formed by CESI, Ramboll, Mercados Energéticos and IIT.
