Biography:
Samuel Peña completed his studies in mechatronics engineering in Bogotá (Colombia) with the Nueva Granada Military University in 2019. After working in the industrial automation and process control industry, he traveled to the United States to hold a position as a DevOps engineer developing software and databases in Houston, Texas, for an insurance company. Already in 2021, he was accepted into a double degree program from EIT InnoEnergy called "Energy For Smart Cities". In this program, he studied one year at KU Leuven in Belgium and another year at KTH Royal Insitute of Technology in Sweden, culminating his degree project with the development and characterization of a solar simulator for testing solar panels implementing software development techniques, electromechanical actuators and development of renewable energies. He currently holds a position as a predoctoral researcher at IIT in thermal comfort optimization projects for buildings and interiors.
