El Dr. Jesús R. Jiménez-Octavio obtuvo el título de Ingeniero Industrial por la Universidad Pontificia Comillas en 2004 y el grado de Doctor por la misma universidad en 2009. Su tesis doctoral, Análisis dinámico y optimización de catenarias para trenes de alta velocidad, fue galardonada con el X Premio Talgo a la Innovación Tecnológica y con la Distinción de Honor a la Mejor Tesis Doctoral en Ingeniería de la Universidad Pontificia Comillas en 2010. Actualmente es Director de la Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería ICAI y Profesor del Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica de la Universidad Pontificia Comillas. Asimismo, desarrolla su actividad investigadora en el Instituto de Investigación Tecnológica (IIT). Su investigación se centra en la Mecánica Computacional, con aplicaciones en dinámica estructural y, más recientemente, en biomecánica. Sus contribuciones científicas incluyen publicaciones en revistas internacionales, presentaciones en congresos internacionales y participación en proyectos de investigación competitivos y con empresas. Cuenta con tres sexenios consecutivos de investigación reconocidos por la Comisión Nacional Evaluadora de la Actividad Investigadora (CNEAI). Recientemente ha sido editor invitado del número especial Biomechanics and Ergonomics in Prevention of Injuries de la revista Applied Sciences.
