Biografía:
MCP es Doctor en Física por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Es miembro del Instituto de Investigación Tecnológica (IIT) y del Grupo Interdisciplinario de Sistemas Complejos (GISC). MCP ha sido investigador principal (PI) de seis proyectos de investigación nacionales españoles y ha participado en cinco proyectos europeos bajo las Acciones Marie Sklodowska-Curie y H2020. El tema central de estos proyectos fue la aplicación de la teoría de la Complejidad para modelar y predecir datos experimentales en Física, Biología y Ciencias Sociales. MCP ha publicado su investigación en revistas prestigiosas como PNAS, Nature Communications, Physical Review Letters y Science Translational Medicine. En este sentido, la mayor parte de la investigación desarrollada por MCP se ha realizado en colaboración con grupos experimentales de todo el mundo, desde la Inmunología a la Materia Condensada. MCP ha sido investigador visitante en Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) y es Profesor Visitante de la Universidad de Leeds.

Experiencia:
Ha publicado en revistas como PNAS, Physical Review Letters, Nature Communications, Science Translational Medicine, Physical Review B, Scientific Reports o Frontiers in Immunology, por citar algunas. Ha sido Investigador Principal de 5 proyectos de investigación del Ministerio de Ciencia de España y ha participado en 10 proyectos, incluidos 3 proyectos europeos dentro de las Acciones Marie Sklodowska-Curie (de las que ha sido IP del nodo Comillas) y H2020. El tema central de estos proyectos fue la aplicación de métodos de Mecánica Estadística para modelar sistemas complejos, con especial énfasis en el modelado y predicción de datos experimentales. Desde 2009, todos los proyectos de MCP se han centrado en la biofísica y la inmunología teórica, con cerca de 100 publicaciones en revistas revisadas por pares con alrededor de 4000 citas. La investigación de MCP ha sido reseñada en varios medios (BBC Radio 4, RNE-Radio 1, El País, Muy Interesante y otros diarios españoles).
Habilidades:
Las habilidades analíticas de MCP incluyen la simulación basada en agentes, ecuaciones estocásticas, ecuaciones de reacción-difusión con un fuerte énfasis en la teoría de perturbaciones y los métodos numéricos. MCP también es un programador experimentado en diferentes paradigmas de programación (i) lenguajes de propósito general: Python, C, C ++, Java; (ii) Lenguajes de scripting: Matlab, bash, awk; (iii) Lenguajes estadísticos y bayesianos: R, JAGS, BUGS; y (iv) Software simbólico: Mathematica, Maple. Recientemente, MCP ha empleado distintas herramientas de Inteligencia Artificial como: Redes bayesianas, Modelos ocultos de Markov, Aprendizaje automático no supervisado: agrupación en clústeres o Grandes modelos de lenguaje.
