Pablo Frías es Doctor Ingeniero Industrial por la Universidad Pontificia Comillas y se incorporó al Instituto de Investigación Tecnológica (IIT) en 2001. Su trabajo se centra en la integración de energías renovables, las redes inteligentes y la movilidad eléctrica, habiendo liderado numerosos proyectos de investigación aplicada a nivel internacional. Ha realizado estancias en Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Imperial College London e INESC. Ha desempeñado funciones de gestión académica e investigadora como Coordinador del Área de Redes Inteligentes Sostenibles (2009–2016), Subdirector del IIT (2016–2018) y Subdirector de ICAI (desde 2018). Compagina su actividad investigadora con la docencia en el Departamento de Ingeniería Eléctrica de ICAI en asignaturas relacionadas con las máquinas eléctricas, movilidad eléctrica y redes eléctricas inteligentes. Cuenta con tres sexenios de investigación y uno de transferencia, además de la certificación ACAP para diversas figuras docentes. Actualmente coordina el Observatorio del Vehículo Eléctrico y la Movilidad Sostenible y forma parte del Comité Ejecutivo del Madrid Green Urban Mobility Lab.
