Lukas Sigrist obtuvo el título de MSc en Ingeniería Eléctrica y Electrónica en 2007 de la École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) y el título de Doctor en 2010 de la Universidad Pontificia Comillas.

Es investigador en el Instituto de Investigación Tecnológica (IIT) de la Universidad Pontificia Comillas y también sub-director de Asuntos Económicos.

Sus áreas de interés incluyen el modelado, análisis y control de sistemas de energía eléctrica.

Ha participado en un gran número de proyectos de investigación relacionados con la estabilidad, la protección y la operación de sistemas de potencia y en particular, de sistemas insulares y aislados.

Ha publicado más de 120 artículos en revistas y conferencias especializadas.

Su trabajo sobre el diseño de esquemas de deslastre de cargas de sistemas aislados ha sido premiado en el 12th European Talent Award for Innovative Energy Systems.

Lukas es tesorero del capítulo español de la IEEE PES y ha sido editor asociado del IET GTD.

También ha sido miembro del grupo de trabajo de CIRED 2018-3 sobre "los requisitos técnicos de microrredes operando en modo isla e interconectado".
