Modeling and simulation of fault contribution of inverter-based generation

Most RES generators are inverter-based generators. The control of the inverter includes a current-control loop since overcurrent capability of inverters is very limited. Inverter-based generators inject therefore only about nominal current during faults, being much small than fault contribution of synchronous generators. In this project, the impact of inverter-based generators on simulation and detection of balanced and unbalanced faults is analysed. Tasks: 1) Review of the literature 2) Modeling of the inverter controls 3) Modeling of distance protection scheme 4) Simulation of different balanced and unbalanced faults 5) Analysis
