System protection of island power systems under large shares of RES

Increasing penetration of RES affects stability and in particular frequency stability of island power systems like the Canary Islands. System protection involves underfrequency load shedding (UFLS). UFLS scheme disconnect a certain amount of load if frequency and/or its derivative fall below a certain threshold. The objective of this project is to find the optimal settings of a novel UFLS scheme proposed by U. Rudez. Tasks: 1) Review of the novel UFLS scheme (U. Rudez) 2) Implementation of the novel UFLS scheme in a simulator 3) Optimal tuning of the UFLS scheme parameters
