Virtual synchronous machines - providing inertia in low-inertia RES power systems
The virtual synchronous machine (VSM) is a control scheme of grid-connected converters to mimick the behavior of classical synchronous machines. The provision of inertia is realized through control, but there is no a physical inertia related to rotating masses. Since the inertia is realized through control, the question arises whether inertia is still provided if the converter reaches its current (power) limits. This project tries to answer this question.
