Influence of active musculature on injury risk prediction on frontal crashes

The aim of this project is to investigate how the occupant position, muscle forces, initial velocity or stress at the time of impact influence the occupant’s injury risk. This investigation will be carried out using a HBM (Human Body Model) with active musculature in several simulations of frontal crashes using LS-DYNA as the main explicit finite element software. These simulations will have a pre-crash phase in which an avoidance maneuver will be performed (braking, steering or braking and steering simultaneously), followed by a in-crash phase based on frontal crash tests.
