After a major blackout, the system undergoes a black start where some so-called black-start generators connected to the transmission system are started up first, and then demand blocks and further generators are iteratively re-connected. Currently, black start follows a top-down approach, but distributed generation within the distribution systems can also support this process, leading to a complementary bottom-up approach. This project aims at determining the optimal black-start sequence of distributed generation within an islanded part of a distribution system.
