Contribution of wind power generation to power system stabilization

Wind power generation is becoming significant in a number of power systems (Germany, Spain and Denmark). Wind power generation makes use of several technologies. Squirrel cage induction machines and doubly fed induction machines are the most widespread technologies. Power system stabilization can be affected by wind power generation. This paper studies the effect of wind power generation on power system stabilization. The different performance of the two dominant technologies is evaluated.
