Summary:

This paper describes the implementation of a PSS/E tool for power flow calculation and dynamic simulation of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) multi-terminal systems based on Voltage Source Converters. The tool is valid for AC/DC grids with arbitrary topology and makes it possible to seamlessly include a HVDC grid into existing AC cases in PSS/E. The model has been validated against a detailed electromagnetic model developed in Matlab + Simulink + SimPowerSystems and has been compared to the available models in PowerFactory (DigSilent). This paper includes the validation results and the simulation tests carried out with the Cigr´e Nordic32A test system, in order to illustrate the potential of the tool developed.
