Frequency and time domain analysis of grounding systems components

A. Elices, L. Rouco, J. Barquín

32nd Universities Power Engineering Conference, UMIST, Manchester (United Kingdom). 10-12 Septiembre 1997

Summary:
This paper presents an analysis of the behaviour of three grounding configurations in the time and frequency domain using the transmission line theory. These configurations are a vertical grounding rod, a horizontal grounding conductor and a grounding system made up by a horizontal conductor which has a vertical tod connected to its end. They are components which form the grounding grids of MV/LV transformers. Firstly, a description of the models used is presented. Secondly, their time domain lightning responses are compared among each other varying one or various parameters at a time.
