Adjustment of the model EXLA for the detailed and coordinated optimization of the hydraulic subsystems

J. García-González R. Moraga

January 2005 - November 2005

Funding entity Indra-Endesa

The main objective of the model EXLA, developed by the IIT for ENDESA, is to help to the mid and long term planning of the hydroelectric resources. The original design of EXLA was developed in a scheme where the priority was its interaction with the market equilibrium model VALORE (providing the composite parameters of each river basin and disaggregating the global productions among all the individual hydro plants). However, the developments realized during 2004, such as the detailed modeling of the subsystems particularities and the risk management of spillage and scarcity contingencies, allowed to consider the results of the model as realistic policies for operation of the reservoirs. As a consequence, the aim the collaboration for the year 2005 is to adapt the tool for new uses required by the reservoir managers.
