New improvements and setting in operation the model EXLA (long-term scheduling of hydro systems)

January 2003 - December 2003

Funding entity Endesa

The model EXLA is a tool for the long-term scheduling of hydro systems developed for the ENDESA by the IIT.

The main objective of this project is to add new improvements and to set in operation the model EXLA developed and partially pre-installed during the previous year collaboration.

The model EXLA has a purely hydraulic character. It constitutes a helping tool for planning the scheduling of the hydraulic resources of ENDESA in the mid and long term. The main objective of the model EXLA is to guarantee that the forecasted hydro schedules provided by other models (VALORE) are feasible and physically realizable.

The necessity for developing EXLA was the simplified hydro modelling use internally in VALORE (a more detailed representation is not possible due to the computational effort it would suppose).

For that reason, EXLA communicates with VALORE in the two following senses:

· VALORE - > EXLA:
· EXLA - > VALORE:

Besides the hydraulic generation units of ENDESA, in this collaboration a representation of the units belonging to competitors companies will be also carried out.
