At the IIT, we need creative people who, in addition to an excellent academic curriculum, are capable of working as a team in an international environment and providing novel and rigorous solutions to the different challenges posed. If you have successfully completed your studies with a Master's Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Organization, Computer Science, Electrical-Electronics, Telecommunications, etc.) or related disciplines (Mathematics, Physics, etc.), you can also be part of IIT.
"A PhD at IIT combines the best from two worlds: challenging industry projects while researching about the future of our energy systems". TIMO GERRES (Germany. Doctorate Program in Power Systems)
"Researching at the IIT entails working with people who find no limits to learning possibilities, committed to knowledge dissemination. In an environment where you can combine a PhD development together with taking part in leading projects". CELIA MOSÁCULA (Spain. Doctorate Program in Power Systems)
"I could never have imagined working in a place where research becomes reality and knowledge is shared amongst everyone". ROBERTO BARRELLA (Italy. Doctorate Program in Engineering Systems Modeling)
"The expertise and maturity of the IIT when facing new challenges and solving high complexity problems, makes it very easy to be constantly learning". TERESA FREIRE (Spain. Doctorate Program in Engineering Systems Modeling)
"In IIT I have been able to make top quality research, from the academic point of view, and with a clear vocation of service to society". DAVID ROCH (Spain. Doctorate Program in Engineering Systems Modeling)
"Here, in IIT, I have found an exceptional environment, which has given me a lot from both a professional and personal point of view". DENIZ SUN (Turkey. Doctorate Program in Power Systems)
The cornerstone of the IIT is the group of PhD students, called Research Assistants, who have been selected
to carry out their doctoral thesis in any of our different areas of research.
The IIT offers a flexible work environment to achieve maximum academic excellence while working closely with
the industry. As a result, IIT job opportunities are not restricted to the university field, but there are
many examples of successful careers in the private sector, in which having spent a few years in the IIT
constitutes a differentiating element.
There are three possible categories:
In any category, the candidate must have an official Master's Degree and fulfill all the admission requirements to access one of the Comillas International Doctorate School programs related to IIT:
Occasionally, the IIT also offers full-time contract jobs for doctor researchers with exclusive dedication to research projects. For this purpose there are scholarships such as Marie Curie Individual Fellowships or Juan de la Cierva, among others.
There are different alternatives for undergraduate and master students to collaborate in research activities at the IIT, either through collaborative scholarships associated with research projects or through completion of graduate or Master's degree projects.
Finally, if you are doing a doctorate at another national or international center but you want to collaborate with the IIT, you can apply for a stay with us. This possibility is also extended to postdoctoral researchers. Although there may be flexibility in terms of length, ideally you should choose one of the following options:
