The aim of this thesis is to investigate the potential application of graphene and other carbon based nanomaterials in the development of advanced hybrid scaffolds for effective bone regeneration of critical sized defects. When graphene has been incorporated in small amounts to different materials, has demonstrated the ability to improve the mechanical properties and biocompatibility, as well as to promote cell growth of these materials. Using additive manufacturing technology will be design and develop various configurations of scaffolds reinforced with graphene and different graphene derivatives. Effectiveness of the scaffolds will be evaluate in vitro by different techniques (mechanical tests, fatigue tests, cell growth, etc.)
Requirements: Engineering degree. Fluency in spoken and written English. A strong interest and willingness to integrate in basic science and research.
Full-time contract with exclusive dedication to the PhD thesis.
